Fact: more than 60 million girls around the world are not in school.
Fact: Girls with 8 years of education are 4 times less likely to be married as children.
Fact: Each extra year of a mother’s education reduces the probability of infant mortality by 5% to 10%.
I am so excited to share that I am now a One Girl Ambassador–I’ll be actively involved in raising money and awareness to support two of my passions: education and the development of young women!
One Girl was founded on the knowledge that education is the pathway out of poverty for young girls in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
One Girl believes that every girl on the planet has the right to an education. No matter where she is born, how much her family earns, what religion she adheres to or what her culture says, every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and be the best she can be.
One Girl is on a mission to educate 1 million girls across Africa, and I am so excited to join them in pursuit of this goal! This is only the beginning of my story with One Girl. My goal is to continue to raise money and awareness around educating girls in Africa, and in 2018-2019 I will be heading to Africa to volunteer with these young women directly.
“Women and girls should be able to determine their own future, no matter where they’re born.”
